Sometimes we need something a little gentler in our listening repertoire to ease us into the daily grind of the week ahead. Well, we’ve got just the ticket with Ed Prosek’s ‘Light As A Feather’ from his EP of the same name. The songwriter’s style is laced with contemporary country and folk music, perhaps influenced by his home of California, although it’s the indie production that takes the lead here. Based in Berlin, ‘Light As A Feather’ can be heard from this immigrant perspective, as an outsider searching for a sense of belonging. It’s love that Prosek places his hopes into for this, as we hear in the central lyric, “can you make this heavy heart of mine light as a feather?” For Prosek, as for so many with creative capabilities, his craft provides a cathartic outlet. He explains that “songwriting is a way to tap into the things you’re too afraid to say to yourself and to help reflect on why you might feel them in the first place.” With seven million streams already under his belt this year, you can rest assured in the knowledge that Ed Prosek is a worthy listen. - Hannah Thacker
